Our Story

Blue Nile Café was founded in 1995 by Daniel and Selam Fikru, who introduced Ethiopian cuisine to the Kansas City area. Over the years, the restaurant has operated in multiple locations, including Midtown and Overland Park, before establishing its current presence in City Market.

With more than two decades of service, Blue Nile Café has become a recognized destination for Ethiopian food in Kansas City. The restaurant has received multiple awards, including being named “Best Ethiopian Restaurant” by 435 Magazine in 2019.
