Savor the Flavors 2021  

Thursday, Sept. 16, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

More than 20 Kansas City chefs will provide delicious tastings amidst an exciting competition to see whose fare is favorite at Savor the Flavors, a culinary event like no other. This festive cocktail party includes incredibly prepared food, live music, live and silent auctions, and picture-perfect city views. For the first time, Savor the Flavors is all outdoors at City Market!

Every dollar raised from Savor the Flavors provides support to the seniors served by The Don Bosco Centers. In 2020, despite the challenges of the pandemic, more than 450 vulnerable clients were able to stay safe and healthy in their own homes. Thanks to the support of generous funders, clients can rely on The Don Bosco Centers for for hot meals, emergency assistance, and caring support to help them meet the challenges that come with aging.

Dig In! This Box Supports Local Farmers 

Sunday, Sept. 19, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Instead of gathering at City Market this year for this year’s Dig In! Farm-to-Table dinner on Sunday, Sept. 19., join Cultivate KC’s collective dining experience and take home a Dig In! dinner basket in support of Cultivate KC’s ongoing work with our city’s urban farmers and focus on building a more sustainable and equitable local food system.

Each Dig In! basket will be picked up at City Market and comes in a reusable apple crate including tableware and accessories to create the Dig In! experience at home. Enjoy a multi-course meal served family-style made almost entirely from ingredients grown within 50-75 miles of Kansas City, including dessert, bread wine, beer, and signature cocktails while you join an online program with prize drawings and more. This locally grown and lovingly prepared meal feeds two people and is made with ingredients grown and produced from hyperlocal small farms, prepared by talent from The Town Co., Local Pig, Waldo Thai, Buck Tui BBQ, The Antler Room & Novel. Each basket also includes compostable plates and flatware, local flowers, a handmade wooden charcuterie board from Urban KC Custom Woodworks, wine from Underdog Wine Co., beer from Stockyards Brewing Co., a jar of local fruit butter from Broadmoor Bistro, a biobag liner with info on drop off sites from KC Can Compost

One more thing…
One lucky basket will have a golden ticket good for a complimentary stay at the Historic Hotel Kansas City located in downtown KC. The winner will also receive a free large basecamp duffel bag from The North Face.

The Art of Couture Comes to City Market 

Friday, Nov. 5, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Get your ticket* to COALESCE, the Kansas City Artists Coalition’s immersive art experience where fine art meets fashion. 

Eight local artists will transform gowns into walking canvases of fine art. Each Artist Dress will be accompanied by a complimentary collection of gowns curated by WLAA Style. 

Event sponsors include City Market, Wlaa Style, the KC Streetcar Authority, Harvest Productions, and The Gown Gallery. 

*General Admission is $50 and includes appetizers, open bar, and custom face mask.

Premier Admission is $125 and includes early entry & pre-party with live entertainment and meet & greet with artists, prime event seating, open bar, appetizers, open bar, and custom face mask. 

ALL GUESTS MUST WEAR A FACE MASK and either present their vaccination card or a COVID-19 test showing a negative result within 24 hours of the event.

NEW in 2021: we’ve partnered with The Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair to expand and elevate MERRY MARKET this holiday season! Known for being an outstanding curated craft fair and leader in the handmade movement, The Swing will bring more than 75 juried all-local artists and makers to MERRY MARKET.

MERRY MARKET is a FREE, open-air European-style experience featuring The Swing’s juried makers, street food vendors, holiday drinks, strolling entertainers and other festivities. Makers will be in the Farmers Market pavilions facing outward so guests can shop outdoors with lots of space and fresh air. Find unique gifts for everyone on your list while supporting small, local business to keep our community strong.

Participating artisans specialize in ceramics, printing, painting, photography, woodworking, metalsmithing, leather crafting, fiber and textile arts, jewelry, clothing, and much more. Many of the makers are creating limited edition items that will be exclusively available at MERRY MARKET.

MERRY MARKET is continuing longstanding partnerships with the KC Streetcar’s Holiday Jam live music series and The Kansas City Museum’s Fairy Princess who will greet and treat guests. City Market shops and restaurants will offer holiday-themed specials, in-store activities, and promotions to be announced closer to the event kickoff.
