KC Chalk and Walk Festival

Sept. 2-4
Free, all ages welcome!

Friday, Sept. 2, 4-8 p.m.: Color City Market beautiful with an all-ages chalking event that will tee up KC Chalk & Walk Festival, Sept. 3-4, a weekend of artwork created by master chalk artists.

Sept. 3-4, during the Farmers Market: Observe chalk renderings completed within 2 days by 50 to 60 art teams comprised of professional, student and amateur artists who, on their knees, will create lively and powerful chalk “paintings” on City Market walkways.

This is fascinating “performance art,” where the process of creating the work is as important than the finished piece. The interaction between artists and spectators can be as rewarding as the creation of these masterpieces.

Get inspired! Surprises abound as nationally and internationally known Master and 3D chalk artists from various backgrounds mentor and inspire our own Kansas City chalk artists.

Get involved! Engage with vertical interactive artwork throughout installed and displayed throughout City Market.

Check out the Children’s Creative Corridor where kids of all ages can try their hand at chalking with chalk generously provided by Crayola. Learn about “the how” of chalk and try some make and take activities.

There is no fee to participate and no purse or prizes awarded. KC Chalk & Walk Festival is simply a celebration of artistic talent and creative expression as well as an opportunity for everyone to get involved. The event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.
